I never thought dealing with a death would be so difficult. 38 sleepless nights! A voice calling you from the distance! And so on and so forth. Never before in my life had I been so deeply distressed by the loss of someone…probably I had never lost someone so close. Merely 8 days of meeting in the last five years and the bond became so strong that even 8 years of friendship could never be. Everybody says he is gone. I cannot believe it. I feel he is around. A good brother, a better friend! Never a complete sentence without mocking each other. Never an argument that could be brought to an end. Yet, we kept forging the threads moving ahead. I have never enjoyed gossiping over phone. We never did. We rarely spoke. But still I feel there has never been someone who knew me better.

Friends, this loss taught me a few things I would want to share with you. Each of us has our own share of problems. Let us not allow those problems to become a part of ourselves. Allow yourself to exist in the way you really are. If you need a person, let them know. If you are angry about something, speak it out. If you remember someone, call them up. If you see an unhappy person, share your smile with them. If you are happy, jump around. If you are sad, cry it out. Be what you are made for being – A happy person! Do not be in the pursuit of happiness, for happiness just happens!

Share love, share sorrow, share all you can. And do it not for anyone else but yourself. Do not stop. Do not let the chains of the ‘right’ and the ‘not so right’ pull you back. The past is gone, the future not here. So stop worrying. Live each moment of your life. Breathe. You never know this might be the last chance.

If you have lost a loved one, do not stop. Instead walk two steps ahead. One for yourself, one for them. Someone rightly said, “When darkness sets in, shine on!”
